Can they connect with people they don't know?

What kind of content can they be exposed to?

What are the age ratings of the games and apps they use?

What settings are available to limit risk and encourage a more positive environment?

Digital Technology is integral to the lives of children and young people in today’s society, both within schools and in their lives outside school.

The Internet and other digital and information technologies are powerful tools, which open up new opportunities for everyone. Electronic communication and use of technology can enhance learning opportunities by stimulating discussion, promoting creativity and increasing awareness of context to promote effective learning.

Children and young people should have an entitlement to safe Internet access at all times and should be taught how to keep themselves safe when using the internet. The requirement to ensure that children and young people are able to use the Internet and related communications technologies appropriately and safely is addressed in school; our school aims to be proactive and educate pupils through direct teaching of Online Safety to ensure pupils are equipped with the skills they need to deal with any arising situations. We also have a range of resources available below to support parents.
