Break Time Buddies

Our Breaktime buddies are children in Year 5 who help out at breaktimes and lunchtimes. They are very kind and  supportive children who help the other children in need. Everyday, there will be members of the Year 5 breaktime buddy team on the bottom and top playground, who work through a rota. So that they are easily identifiable, they wear a blue fleece and a purple badge. If the children need someone to play with or need help sorting out small problems, the break time buddies are there to encourage playing different games or to peer mediate.

They each have a little buddy booklet, which they keep a record of any issues that they come across or help that they are giving. They will immediately bring any problems to the adult on duty or to Mrs Foulser if it is happening on more than one occasion. They use the wheel of choice below to help them mediate with the children.

To become a Break time buddy the children have to complete an application form to apply for the job and then this is discussed with the children.

Each year the children complete an assembly to the rest of the children in the school and introduce who they are and what their role is. They also explain the worry boxes, which are situated outside reception and outside the top hall.
