Our Termly Value Discussion - Perseverance

  • The person in the poem persevered and inspires me to persevere
  • Perseverance is where you try and try againTo improve we must persevere
  • When we struggle we should try different ways
  • Think about your thinking to help you improve
  • Think about different ways to do something rather than trying the same thing over and overDon’t give up
  • Don't give up!
  • Have loads of creativity.
  • If you get something wrong, don't give up, keep trying again and again until you get it right.
  • Even if you feel like you can't do something, never give up.
  • When you think something is hard, your brain says "I can't do it" but you need to ignore it and say that you can do it!
  • If you don't know it, don't give up, keep going and going and going.
  • Have lots of confidence that you can understand in the end.
  • Keep on trying and trying until you get there and don't give up.
  • If the work is too hard for you at first, use your magic metacognition to help you and never give up.
  • Do your work better than before by thinking the problem through.
  • Think about the magic word, "Yet" - "I can't do this yet!" Think about it with magic metacognition and you will get it!
  • To believe in yourself that you have confidence to think the problem through.
  • Use perfect perseverance and magic metacognition and listen to other people's views or thoughts.
  • Perseverance - you have to try your best. If you struggle, ask the teacher or a friend to move to a quieter space to persevere.
  • To believe you can do it, never give up!
  • If something is too challenging, stand up for yourself and ask someone to help.
  • Be responsible for your own work and never give up!

The poem that inspired our thoughts:

Powerful Perseverance & Magical Metacognition

When work feels tricky, I stop and think,
“What can I try today?”
I think about my thinking first
And choose a better way.

If I make a mistake, that’s okay,
It helps me learn what’s next;
I try again, a little smarter,
And don’t feel too perplexed.

Each tiny step deserves a cheer—
“I tried!” “I learned!” “I grew!”
I clap for effort, not just wins,
For that’s what helps me through.

I keep on going, proud and strong,
Thinking as I go—
With every step I celebrate,
My success begins to show.
