Welcome back to a new and very exciting start of term. We are so pleased to have classrooms full of smiling children once again!
Our topic this term is The Rainforest and we will be focussing most of our studies on the Amazon Rainforest which links back to our previous work on the Mayans.
The children will be learning about interdependence and adaption and the classification of animals and plants. These last topics will fit in fantastically with our writing, where the children will be researching a rainforest animal of their choice and write about it in a non-chronological report and a Planet Earth style script which they will then perform and record. Geography will be a heavy focus in our and the children will explore thought provoking questions with regards to deforestation, Fair Trade and climate change. In Art, we will be looking at texture and collage with references to the artist Henri Rousseau and the children will work collaboratively in creating a beautiful rainforest collage.
For a more detailed overview of the cross curricular nature of this topic, please see the topic web.
Once again homework will be set virtually via DB Primary. We are so impressed how well the children have adapted to this. The homework is set on a Friday and due in by the following Friday. Most of our homework is set as a task for the children to respond to but instructions are written on the blog every Friday. If there are any problems with this set up, please let us know and we can provide a paper copy.
All year 6 children will be doing PE on a Thursday. Due to the current circumstances, we ask that children come to school wearing PE kit on a Thursday. Please ensure that PE kit is appropriate for the weather as we will be going outside!
Should you need to contact the class teacher, please email the office with your number and suitable times that we can phone you back.
Thank you for your continued support,
