Keep your eyes open so you don't miss the beauty of nature! Our topic this term is Amazing Animals and Pretty Plants. We will be kicking off our topic this term with a trip to the Cotswold Wild Life Park on the 13th of June. We are very excited to explore and learn about plants and animals through all areas of the curriculum. In Science we will learn about herbivores, carnivores, omnivores while also looking at the basic structure of plants. Using this knowledge, we will be creating clay models of our favourite animals which we will also paint in Art. In English, we will be writing fact files about our favourite amazing animals seen at Cotswold Wildlife Park. Not only will we be able to explain what we've learnt through our fact file writing, we will also be looking closely at all aspects on non-fiction writing. Furthermore, we will be writing instructions on how to make a fruit salad- how delicious!
We have enjoyed reading poetry over the year and will be reading animal poems this term.We look forward to Maths this term as we will continue to develop and strengthen our understanding of place value. We aim to having a secure knowledge of place value as we will also be developing our problem solving skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions. In Music, we will be studying pitch as we compare the various pitches of a variety of animals. We will also be practising how body movement is linked to music and rhythm. On the 6th of July we will be able to show all of our family and friends what we've been learning in PE this year as we all participate in Sports Day!
We cannot believe how quickly this year is going and we are looking forward to an engaging and exciting term. As summer is approaching, please ensure your child comes to school with sun cream and a sun hat that they can keep in their drawers. Please continue to label all snack pots, water bottles and PE kits.
