We have another busy and exciting term coming up for our final term of Year 4. We have a wide range of topics to cover but we are hearing some “Good Vibrations” as the Beach Boys would say about our Science focus on Sound and States of Matter. We will look at how sound is made and at patterns between pitch and volume and strength of vibration. States of Matter will examine changes of state between solids, liquids and gases, which sounds like an opportunity to act as particles in different states and melt and cool various tasty food substances!
In Maths, we will continue our paired investigations as well as discovering more about Statistics and Geometry. In English, we will write our own Fantasy Stories before discovering Diamante poems and creating a piece of narrative about the life and behaviour of a bee. Handwriting will link to the vocabulary we will use in all subject areas.
In PSHE, we will be learning about our bodies and the ways in which they change and prepare for childbirth. We will also be looking at our reproductive organs and how they work, as well as how we can accept change and look ahead. There will be a Parents Workshop regarding this; details will follow.
In Computing, we will collate information about different animals into databases and create a list of questions to answer about their animals.
In Art, we will be celebrating a variety of skills, creating Father’s Day gifts, use Andy Warhol as inspiration to create our own portraits and creating animals using clay.
We are going to be naming and describing animals, in French, and how they move as well as discovering the difference between masculine and feminine adjectives.
In RE we will focus on the 5 Pillars of Islam, learning more about Shahadah, Salah, Zakah, Ramadan and Eid and Hajj.
All this and we will be preparing for our own Sports Day on the 6th July!
We were immensely proud of all the Year 4 children who visited Braeside in May. They were a real credit to our school and joined in all the activities enthusiastically.
If you can offer any help for our topics, please speak to one of the Year 4 teaching team.
Thank you for your on-going support.
