Throughout term 5, our topic will be Ancient civilisations with a focus on Ancient Egypt. This history based topic will see us transported back in time over 5000 years to explore the pyramids which were built as tombs for pharaohs. In particular, we will study the famous tomb which laid Tutankhamen to rest.
During English, we will focus on journalistic writing and diary entries. On Tuesday 25th April, we would like the children to come in to school dressed up as 1920s reporters (please see below for pictures). We will use our Egyptian experience day in our first week back to inspire and stimulate us in our writing.
Within maths, we will cover multiplication and division; position and direction (reflection and translation); and fractions including decimals.
The children will use ICT sessions to create Power-Point presentations about Ancient Egypt utilising their developing knowledge of this ancient civilisation. Our art and DT skills will focus on texture and textiles where the children will create their own Egyptian paper and create artwork by painting on to papyrus paper.
Rounders, cricket and athletics will be our P.E. focus and during PSHE, we will be looking at healthy relationships and how relationships may change over time.
Term 5 is a short term with only 5 weeks so I’m sure you will agree that the children will be very busy as they embark on this exciting, new and jam packed topic.
Miss Grant, Mrs Foulser, Mrs Stanton, Mrs Deacon, Mrs Downing and Mrs Stone would like to take this opportunity to once again thank you for your continued support.
