Full steam ahead! Our topic in Term 4 in STEAM & local history. We will be exploring and investigating the development of Swindon’s railway village and the influence of engineer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel. In English, we will be developing our skills in writing by focusing on letter formation, capital letters, finger spaces and full stops through narrative writing. We will also be listening to poetry and performing ‘From a Railway Carriage’ by Robert Louis Stevenson. In Maths, we will be learning multiplication and division using concrete objects, pictures and arrays to demonstrate our understanding. We will also be studying geometry and the various types of ‘turns.’ In PSHE we will be discussing and evaluating the importance of the many relationships we all have- family, friends and classmates! In music, we will be exploring rhythm and beat. We will use a trains natural rhythm to develop our understanding of steady beats. Using instruments, we will learn and perform ‘Professor Brain’s Amazing Machine.’ We will explore texture through textile in Art and the various qualities materials obtain.
Our school trip to the Steam Museum will be on Tuesday the 27th of February.
Ensure all snack pots, water bottles, cardigans, jumpers and PE kits are labeled.
