Our new topic is called ‘Journey into the Unknown.’ This is a science based topic where we will be learning about the planets, seasons, the moon’s cycle and why we have day and night.
Literacy will focus on the non- fiction writing of recounts, persuasive leaflets and newspaper reports.
Our art is colour and painting and we will create our own fictitious planet based on our experience in the hall. We will use a range of media to create this.
During ICT, we will be researching the planets as well as creating our own e- book linked to facts about the planets.
As last term, our PE will be carried out on a Monday and a Tuesday afternoon and we expect children to have their PE Kits on these days. Long tracksuit bottoms and jumpers will be important due to the colder weather.
We have organised Explorer Dome to visit our school, which will complement their learning about the solar system and we will give you more details about this at a later stage.
As part of our new topic, we would like the children to come dressed up as astronauts on Wednesday 9th January 2019, where we will begin with a fun filled learning experience. We have attached pictures, which may support the making of this costume. We were thinking of coke bottles as a back pack, covered in silver paper, a white pair of trousers and white T shirt with a belt. But I am sure your children will have much greater imaginations.
Thank you as always for your continued support
