Dress for the weather as we embark on a topic involving astonishing, wonderful forecasts! In Term 2 we will be learning about the various types of weather we have in the UK while also looking at several types of extreme weather. We will be monitoring the changes in the seasons and weather over the course of the term. In English, we will be writing weather reports to help us analyse the type of weather we have as the seasons change from autumn to winter. We will also be writing about weather while using the book, Stickman by Julia Donaldson, for inspiration. Importantly, we will continue to develop our handwriting, looking specifically at the size of our letters. We will begin to build upon our place value knowledge and start addition and subtraction. As we enjoy addition and subtraction, you can further practise at home on Mathletics and Education City. We will also be developing our addition and subtraction through our weekly 2-minute Mental Maths calculations. In Science, we will be studying various types of trees, their parts, the seasons and how the weather changes as the seasons change. In Computing we will be developing our typing skills and creativity using the program 2Simple Junior. We enjoy painting and we will be learning more about the seasons through painting and colour mixing. We will be looking specifically at both hot and cold colours and when and where they appear in the various seasons.
